Phil's Cooking Academy

This new interactive website at www.philscookingacademy.co.uk features a series of downloadable recipes and podcasts that students can cook-along with either in class or at home. These are also available on YouTube at www.youtube.com/philscookingacademy. ALDI supermarket provided the school with £150 worth of ingredients to get the students started & here are some of the results:

Crest Awards

18 students received the Crest Award at Bronze level following their participation in the Rotary Technology Tournament recently. The students had to design & make a vertical take-off launcher. Crest stands for ‘Creativity in Engineering, Science and Technology’ It is a nationally recognised scheme, unique in that it accredits projects that have the support of industrial mentors. Engineering Diploma students visit to First Capital Connect

On Thursday 12th March the year 10 Engineering Diploma students travelled to the Hornsey maintenance depot. The maintenance director & his manager gave a presentation explaining the roles & responsibilities of the facility. This was followed by a talk on the apprenticeship scheme & a tour of the depot.

Stevenage Technology Tournament

Again this year we hosted the tournament organised by the Stevenage Rotary Club.
Five Stevenage secondary schools took part in the competition including six teams of students from Heathcote. Congratulations to all who took part for achieving the Bronze Crest Award.

Raising Achievement in Engineering & Design Technology

Date for your diary:
A selection of students in year 11 will have the opportunity to attend a day conference to help improve their coursework & examination results. On Saturday 25th April students will spend the morning in school improving their coursework & then travel to The Cromwell Hotel for lunch & a series of talks & discussions to help with examination techniques & terminology.
